The Central government has approved soybean procurement in Madhya Pradesh at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) following widespread farmer protests. Despite the approval, the exact quantity to be procured has not been disclosed. The MSP for the current kharif season is set at ₹4,892 per quintal, up from ₹4,600 last year. However, wholesale prices have plummeted to a 10-year low, ranging from ₹3,200 to ₹3,700, causing farmers to incur losses of ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 per quintal. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan assured farmers that their produce would be bought at MSP and praised PM Modi for supporting farmers.
