Indus Tower has issued a warning that it may restrict services to Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) due to non-payment, dealing a significant blow to VIL’s financial standing. In a letter to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Indus Tower expressed its financial constraints caused by VIL’s failure to meet payment obligations, citing unpaid dues amounting to Rs 7,864.5 crore as of September 30, 2023. Despite previous attempts to reach a settlement, including a one-time agreement in February 2022, VIL has persistently defaulted on payments, preventing Indus Towers from declaring dividends to shareholders. The letter highlights the potential service restrictions if VIL continues to breach payment commitments.
