External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar cautioned that the global outlook for the next five years appears “very grim” due to ongoing conflicts like the war in Ukraine, the Israel-Palestine conflict, and the lingering effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Speaking at the launch of the ‘Indiaspora BCG Impact Report’ in Delhi, Jaishankar, typically an optimist, acknowledged the world’s exceptionally challenging period. His warning aligns with remarks from Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, who recently described the current global environment as the most violent since World War II.
