NASA’s Voyager 2 spacecraft resumed communication after weeks of silence due to a command error that misaligned its antenna. The spacecraft, which is voyaging deeper into interstellar space, stopped transmitting when its antenna was inadvertently turned away from Earth. After sending corrective commands, it took over 18 hours for the signal to reach Voyager 2, located over 12 billion miles away, and an additional 18 hours for the response. The successful adjustment was met with relief and excitement among NASA officials. Voyager 2, launched in 1977, has provided valuable insights into space and may continue operating until its 50th launch anniversary in 2027.
