Nitin Gadkari stated that while he has no issue with continuing subsidies for electric vehicles (EVs), they may no longer be needed in two years as EVs will reach cost parity with traditional vehicles. Speaking at the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association’s annual session, he clarified his stance following earlier comments about reducing subsidies, which had raised concerns among automakers pushing for the third phase of the FAME scheme. Union Heavy Industries Minister H D Kumaraswamy assured that subsidies will continue, with FAME-III to be announced soon.
