Thailand’s Constitutional Court has rejected a plea from the winning Move Forward Party to review a parliamentary decision blocking its Prime Ministerial candidate’s re-nomination. This decision virtually ends prospects for the progressive party to lead the next government, opening the way for a new Prime Ministerial vote in the coming week. Thailand has been under a caretaker government due to parties’ inability to form a government, partly because Pita Limjaroenrat, the Move Forward party leader, was rejected as premier by royalist military-linked lawmakers. The court dismissed the case as it was lodged by over 20 individuals not including the candidate himself.
