In September, white-collar hiring in India experienced an 8.6% year-on-year decline, influenced by negative trends in sectors such as IT, BPO/ITES, and FMCG, according to Naukri.com’s monthly ‘Naukri JobSpeak Index.’ Despite this, there was a month-on-month growth of almost 6% in job postings, with 2,835 white-collar job postings. The IT sector, grappling with global challenges, witnessed dwindling hiring numbers, along with BPO/ITES and FMCG registering negative growth of 25% and 23%, respectively. However, the banking sector exhibited robust growth, emphasizing the resilience of India’s job market. The hospitality and travel industry saw notable growth, particularly in Mumbai, during the monsoon season. Non-metro cities, including Vadodara, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur, outperformed metros in job creation.
