The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that over 22,500 people injured in Gaza’s ongoing conflict will need long-term rehabilitation, with many suffering life-altering injuries such as amputations. The war, which began 11 months ago, has led to 41,118 deaths and over 95,000 injuries, per Gaza’s health ministry. Severe limb injuries are a major driver of rehabilitation needs, with up to 4,050 amputations recorded. Gaza’s healthcare system is severely strained, with only 17 out of 36 hospitals partially functioning and its sole limb reconstruction center shut down.
