Six individuals have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 62-year-old Congress party leader and former zilla panchayat president on the outskirts of Srinivasapura town in Kolar district, Karnataka. The victim, Seenappa alias Srinivasan, was hacked to death by a group of armed men, and the motive for the murder was traced back to old rivalries, particularly a land dispute and an alleged assault. Among the arrested, two individuals, Venugopal and Munindra, reportedly attacked the police team while being escorted to the police station, resulting in the police opening fire. The police officers and accused were injured in the incident and admitted to the hospital for treatment. The situation in Srinivasapura and surrounding areas is reported to be tense but under control.
