Patanjali Ayurved and its Managing Director Acharya Balkrishna have submitted an official apology to the Supreme Court regarding misleading advertisements targeting evidence-based medicine. In an affidavit, Balkrishna assured that such ads would not be released in the future and emphasized the company’s commitment to promoting Ayurveda while respecting the rule of law. The affidavit was filed in response to a plea by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), which accused Patanjali of conducting a smear campaign against the Covid-19 vaccination drive and modern medicine. This comes after the Supreme Court warned Patanjali of heavy fines for false claims made in its advertisements and temporarily banned them in February 2024 due to continued violations despite previous directives.
