In the first quarter of 2024, housing sales across the top 7 cities hit a decade-long high, with 1,30,170 units sold, marking a 14% increase from the same period in 2023. Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and Pune contributed over 51% of total sales, with MMR experiencing a 24% rise and Pune witnessing a 15% increase. New launches surpassed 1 lakh units, with a marginal 1% yearly rise. Anuj Puri of ANAROCK Group noted a surge in demand for high-priced homes above Rs 1.5 crore. Hyderabad saw a notable 38% increase in sales, while NCR experienced 9% decline. Average residential property prices rose by 10-32%, with Hyderabad and Bengaluru recording the highest annual price jumps.
