The Congress Central Election Committee finalized K.V. Gowtham, President of Bengaluru Central District Congress Committee, as the candidate for Kolar (SC) constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. With this decision, Congress has now filled all 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka. The delayed announcement for Kolar was attributed to internal factionalism within the Kolar District Congress Committee. Gowtham’s candidacy, representing the SC ‘left’ sect, marks a political setback for Minister K.H. Muniyappa, whose son-in-law was denied a ticket. This move also contradicts the preference of a faction led by former Assembly Speaker K.R. Ramesh Kumar for a candidate from the SC ‘right’ sect.
