The European Commission is reviewing Apple’s proposal to allow music streaming services like Spotify to inform users of alternative payment methods outside the App Store. Failure to meet compliance could result in antitrust charges and additional fines for the iPhone maker. Under Apple’s plan, services can include links to their websites for purchasing digital goods, but Apple imposes a 27% fee on such transactions. Spotify expressed frustration at the delay in Apple’s compliance with the EU order, issued alongside a €1.84 billion fine last month.
