Sitaram Yechury, the general secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)], lodged a complaint with the Chief Election Commissioner against a notice issued by the Income Tax department to the party’s Thrissur district committee for alleged irregularities.
In his letter to the Chief Election Commissioner, Yechury highlighted that the party already publishes details of its donations on its website as part of its commitment to transparency. He expressed concern that such notices, especially during the election period, indicate a potential political agenda on the part of the Modi government against the ruling CPI(M)-led front in Kerala.
