US President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced a significant upgrade to their countries’ alliance, aiming to bolster defence ties amid China’s increasing assertiveness in the Indo-Pacific region. The leaders unveiled approximately 70 agreements, marking a substantial transformation of their partnership into a global alliance.
