Recent research from The Australian National University (ANU) reveals that one of the earliest cities in the Pacific was established much earlier than previously estimated. Utilizing aerial laser scanning, the study mapped archaeological sites on Tongatapu Island in Tonga, demonstrating that Earth structures were being built around AD 300. This discovery suggests that urbanization in the Pacific was an indigenous development predating Western influenCE.
