DigiYatra, utilizing Facial Recognition Technology (FRT) for seamless passenger movement, is set to be implemented at 14 additional airports by the end of April. The initiative, aimed at domestic passengers initially, is also under discussion for international travelers. DigiYatra Foundation CEO Suresh Khadakbhavi assures that passenger data remains encrypted and under their control. The process involves Aadhaar-based validation and self-image capture for registration on the DigiYatra app, followed by scanning of boarding passes at e-gates for validation. Efforts are underway to improve user experience and extend the service to international travel with discussions ongoing with relevant agencies.
