The United States has imposed sanctions on two Russian individuals, Jon Jin Yong and Sergei Kozlov, and a Moscow-registered firm, Intellekt LLC, accused of supporting North Korea’s ballistic missile program. The sanctions were issued in response to North Korea’s failed launch of a spy satellite and allegations that Russia is seeking munitions from North Korea for the war in Ukraine. Jon Jin Yong and Sergei Kozlov were said to have coordinated the use of North Korean construction workers in Russia, generating revenue for North Korean organizations associated with weapons of mass destruction. The U.S. Treasury Department, in coordination with South Korea and Japan, continues to work against North Korea’s activities.
