In Q1 2024, institutional investment in Indian real estate fell by 55% to $552 million, largely due to foreign investors’ cautious approach amidst global uncertainties. Domestic investors, however, surged, constituting 98% of total investments, a stark rise from the previous year. Commercial real estate attracted the most investment at $232 million, followed closely by residential projects at $225 million. Despite an increase in investment share, the actual value of both commercial and residential sectors declined. Bengaluru led in attracting investments, with $299 million, followed by NCR with $110 million. Edelweiss Capital emerged as a prominent investor, deploying over $300 million across various assets. With a positive economic outlook, further investments in Indian real estate are anticipated.
