The reconstruction of the overbridge near Fort railway station, a 157-year-old structure, is set to finish this year. Following extensive damage during monsoons and persistent demand for replacement since 2017, Tiruchi City Corporation and Southern Railway initiated the project. The new four-lane overbridge, costing ₹34.10 crore, includes widened approach roads and pedestrian platforms. Despite initial delays in utility line shifting, progress is now steady. With the bridge closed for traffic since March, completion is anticipated by December, easing congestion on alternative routes.
