The long-awaited Water Metro ferries initiated service on the High Court-Fort Kochi route, delighting tourists and commuters alike. The AC electric-hybrid ferries, operational from April 21, offer a 17-minute trip every 20 to 30 minutes for a fare of ₹40. Santhosh George Kulangara, a member of the State Planning Board and renowned traveler, was among the passengers on the inaugural trip, which featured the captivating sight of dolphins near the Vallarpadam container transhipment terminal. Though reducing fares appears challenging for officials currently, the service is expected to invigorate tourism in the region.
