Starting June 1, 2024, significant changes in driving licence regulations will be enforced, eliminating the need for a driving test at government Regional Transport Offices (RTOs). Private institutions will now be empowered to conduct tests and issue certificates for licence applicants they’ve trained. Notably, there’s a focus on environmental concerns, with plans to phase out 900,000 old government vehicles and enforce stricter emissions regulations. The fine for speeding ranges from Rs 1000-2000, while minors caught driving face a hefty Rs 25,000 penalty, with driving registration card cancellation and a licence eligibility delay until age 25.
