The Tamil Nadu government is pioneering the use of carbon markets to finance green initiatives, aiming to integrate with carbon markets and benefit local communities. With a Green Climate Fund managed by TNIFMC, the state has allocated over Rs 1,000 crore for eligible industries. Projects are being identified, and the state is partnering with ProClime for expert advice. Carbon markets allow trading of carbon credits, enabling companies to offset emissions and promote sustainability. The move reflects Tamil Nadu’s commitment to energy transition and climate action.
