Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) plans to invest Rs 55,000 crore over the next three years in expanding its 4G networks instead of launching 5G services. Vi CEO Akshaya Moondra emphasized that their focus is on enhancing 4G coverage to address customer churn, which has led to a loss of 16.25 million subscribers in FY24. The telco aims to accelerate 4G expansion by deploying more sites and increasing capacity. While Vi has launched 5G networks in some areas to meet regulatory requirements, it has not commercially launched 5G services like its competitors Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio.
