The government is starting the process to select the next chairman of the State Bank of India (SBI) from Tuesday. The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB), responsible for appointing top executives in public sector financial institutions, will conduct a two-day meeting beginning May 21 to recommend a candidate. Current chairman Dinesh Kumar Khara’s tenure ends on August 28, 2024. The selection pool includes four Managing Directors (MDs) of SBI: CS Setty, Ashwini Kumar Tewari, Alok Kumar Choudhary, and Vinay M Tonse, though Choudhary is ineligible due to his impending retirement on June 30.
