The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) suffered a humiliating defeat in the recent Lok Sabha elections, failing to secure a single seat for the first time since its inception in 2001. The party’s candidates not only failed to compete effectively but also forfeited security deposits in seven out of 17 seats. Despite ambitions to expand nationally, the party’s political fortunes plummeted rapidly following its loss in the December 2023 Assembly elections. The party’s vote share declined significantly, with a majority of lost votes being gained by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
