M Selvakumar, owner of Salem Spartans in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), lodged a complaint alleging a scam of Rs 6.10 crore. According to the FIR filed in December 2023, the accused, including cricketers Robin Bist and Akash Sumra, offered Selvakumar shares in a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) team. They claimed to own 27% of the CPL team and promised him 25% shares upon investment. Selvakumar invested Rs 10 lakhs initially and later transferred funds as instructed. The accused assured protection of his investment and engaged an agent named Sam, based in Dubai, to oversee the transaction.
