India’s major aviation firms are gearing up for future growth by establishing their own training institutions. Air India is launching a pilot training school, while GMR Aero Technic, backed by GMR Group, has invested Rs 50 crore to start the GMR School of Aviation. This initiative aims to meet the rising demand for skilled manpower, particularly in aircraft maintenance engineering. With orders for over 1,200 planes from airlines like IndiGo and Air India, the industry anticipates a need for 5,000 aircraft maintenance engineers in the next five years.
