On the sixth day of the Parliament session, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar commemorated the 1985 Air India Kanishka bombing, calling it “one of the darkest days in the fight against terrorism.” Both Houses observed a minute of silence for the 329 victims, including 22 Indian citizens. The bombing, executed by Sikh militants in retaliation for Operation Bluestar, is among the deadliest acts of aviation terrorism. Despite investigations remaining active, key suspect Ripudaman Singh Malik was acquitted in 2005 and later killed in 2022.
