Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), owned by the Adani Group, reported substantial growth in passenger traffic in August 2023. The airport saw a remarkable 32% year-on-year increase, serving 4.32 million passengers, a notable improvement from the 3.2 million passengers in August 2022. Moreover, CSMIA witnessed a 33% year-on-year surge in international passenger numbers, with 1.1 million international travelers compared to 0.84 million the previous year. Impressively, the airport’s recovery was highlighted by a 108% increase in passenger traffic compared to the pre-pandemic levels of August 2019, indicating a robust comeback in the aviation sector. The resurgence is attributed to growing passenger confidence and the Indian aviation industry’s rebound from the pandemic’s disruptions.
