The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has rejected Akasa Air’s plea, asserting its lack of authority in the dispute over pilot resignations. In response to the airline’s claim of financial and operational hardships due to 43 pilots quitting without completing the mandated notice period, the DGCA informed the Delhi High Court that it cannot intervene in employer-employee disputes and cited data indicating minimal flight cancellations by Akasa Air. The regulator emphasized the ongoing legal challenge to the notice period rule, which is sub judice, and urged the court to dismiss Akasa Air’s petition seeking action against the resigned pilots.
