The Bombay High Court has granted approval for Akasa Air to proceed with its case against over 40 pilots who abruptly resigned, disrupting operations for the 13-month-old airline. Despite objections from the pilots regarding jurisdiction, the court’s decision enables Akasa to pursue the matter in Mumbai. Simultaneously, in the Delhi High Court, Akasa is seeking intervention from the DGCA against its former pilots. The court affirmed the DGCA’s authority to take action in cases of non-compliance by pilots. The matter is scheduled for further hearing on October 4, 2023. Akasa is seeking Rs 21 crores in damages from five pilots, along with an additional Rs 18 lakhs for breach of contract.
