The International Solar Alliance’s Director General, Dr Ajay Mathur, announced that global solar energy projects are poised to receive more than $380 billion in investments this year, a significant increase from the $310 billion recorded in the previous year. Two-thirds of this investment has been directed towards large solar plants, with a focus on the OECD and China, while smaller projects, especially in remote regions and Africa, face challenges in funding. Dr Mathur stressed the need for capacity building and the involvement of private sector investors in Africa, assuring a guarantee payment system to mitigate risks.
