UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres arrived in Nepal for an official visit, marking his first trip to the country since assuming the UN Secretary-General post in 2017. During his visit, Guterres held meetings with Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Purna Bahadur Khadka, and Foreign Minister Narayan Prakash Saud. Guterres pledged the UN’s support to Nepal’s transitional justice process and urged developed countries to increase support to nations affected by the impacts of climate change. The visit also includes stops at heritage sites and addresses to Nepal’s Parliament.
