The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has informed the Delhi High Court that the aircraft and engines of grounded airline Go First can be returned to lessors. DGCA stated that the amendment in the insolvency law exempting aircraft objects from the moratorium applies retrospectively. This exemption under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) allows aircraft lessors to repossess planes leased to Go First. The aviation regulator is awaiting the court’s direction in the matter, while Jindal Power, previously interested in the airline, may not proceed with its financial bid.
