Apple appears to be experimenting with spatial video on the iPhone 15 Pro models with the iOS 17.2 beta update, allowing users to record these unique videos to be viewed in the Photos app. This feature is accessed via the Camera settings, enabling spatial recording for Apple Vision Pro. The supported iPhone 15 Pro models must be held in landscape orientation for recording. These videos, shot at 30 frames per second with 1080p resolution, show up in the Photos app as a ‘Spatial’ labeled video. Apple Vision Pro, an upcoming AR/VR headset set to launch in 2024, will use spatial videos and photos. This development follows the trend of mixed-reality headsets, with Samsung reportedly preparing to unveil a mixed-reality headset alongside foldable devices.
