Preliminary estimates indicate that Diwali 2023 retail sales in India may have reached an unprecedented high of Rs 3.75 lakh crore, fueled by robust buying across diverse segments. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) reported this record figure, with additional trade expected during upcoming festivals. The spending breakdown includes 13% in food and grocery, 9% in jewelry, 12% in textiles, and garments, among others. Notably, Chinese goods lost over Rs 1 lakh crore in trade, marking a shift from previous years where they dominated the Diwali market. Experts suggest this Diwali season might be the best-ever, showcasing resilience post-COVID-19.
