Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar presided over a repatriation ceremony in London for two 8th-century temple idols, Yogini Chamunda and Yogini Gomukhi, stolen from Uttar Pradesh in the late 1970s. Recovered with support from the High Commission of India in London, India Pride Project, and Art Recovery International, the idols were unveiled at India House. Jaishankar emphasized the importance of legal and transparent cultural exchanges, expressing the unacceptability of deviations. Yogini refers to female masters of yogic arts, and the Lokhari temple originally housed 20 Yogini statues. The repatriation marks the fifth instance of returning cultural heritage to India.
