Jamaican sprinter Elaine Thompson-Herah, a five-time Olympic gold medalist, has severed ties with coach Shanikie Osbourne due to what she deemed as “extremely excessive” financial terms. The decision comes eight months ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, where Thompson-Herah aims to defend her sprint titles. The management team, expressing dissatisfaction with the proposed coaching package, stated that negotiations lacked flexibility, leading to the search for an alternative coach. Despite being the second-fastest woman in the 100 meters, Thompson-Herah faced challenges in the 2023 season due to injuries and did not secure an individual spot at the World Championships in Budapest.
