Tata Group, a major conglomerate, is planning to construct one of India’s largest iPhone assembly plants in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, capitalizing on Apple’s push to expand manufacturing in the country. The facility is expected to feature around 20 assembly lines, employing 50,000 workers within two years. Tata aims for the plant to be operational in 12 to 18 months, reinforcing Apple’s strategy to localize its supply chain. This move follows Tata’s acquisition of an iPhone factory from Wistron Corp. in Karnataka. As part of their growing collaboration, Tata has increased hiring and announced plans for 100 retail stores focusing on Apple products, while Apple is expanding its retail presence in India. The plant is poised to be a mid-sized facility in the global landscape of iPhone factories.
