In 2023, 57 Indian corporates secured Rs 49,434 crore through initial public offerings (IPOs), marking a 17% decrease from the previous year. However, excluding the mega LIC IPO of 2022, the IPO mobilization increased by 28%. Mankind Pharma led with a Rs 4,326 crore IPO, while Udayshivakumar Infra had the smallest IPO at Rs 66 crore. Overall public equity fundraising surged by 59%, reaching Rs 1,44,283 crore in 2023. The average retail investor applications increased significantly, reflecting heightened enthusiasm. IPO responses were buoyed by strong listing performances, with average listing gains at 29%. The outlook for 2024 remains robust, with numerous companies awaiting regulatory approval for IPOs.
