SpiceJet intends to utilize the Rs 2,250 crore raised through a preferential share and warrant issue for operational expansion and liability reduction. Shareholders have approved the fund-raising plan through equity shares and warrants, allowing the airline to proceed. At the annual general meeting (AGM), Chairman and MD Ajay Singh highlighted exclusive flying rights to Lakshadweep under the UDAN scheme, with plans to launch flights to Agatti Island. The announcement coincides with strained India-Maldives relations, sparked by unwelcome references to PM Narendra Modi’s Lakshadweep visit. SpiceJet also disclosed upcoming routes, including Ayodhya connections, and recent stake acquisition by a Mumbai-based couple.
