Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has been awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract by NLC India Ltd for a 2,400 MW Ultra Super Critical Technology-based thermal power project in Jharsuguda district, Odisha. The contract covers the supply and commissioning of boilers, turbines, generators, and balance of plants for the 3×800 MW Stage-1 project. The power generated will be distributed to Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Kerala, and Puducherry through power purchase agreements. The project, using coal linkage from NLCIL’s Talabira II & III mines, is expected to commission its first unit in the financial year 2028-29.
