The Supreme Court has scheduled hearings for Google’s appeal against the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal’s (NCLAT) decision to uphold a Rs 1,337.76 crore penalty imposed by the Competition Commission of India (CCI). The CCI penalized Google for anti-trust violations related to Android devices. The hearing is set to begin on April 30, with both sides allotted four days for arguments. The case has faced delays due to constitutional bench matters. Google had previously sought interim relief, which the apex court declined on January 19, 2023, leading to the matter being referred back to the NCLAT for a final order. The NCLAT upheld the penalty in March 2023, prompting appeals from both Google and the CCI.
