Migrant labourers in Bihar face challenges as many are unaware of government schemes meant for them. In instances of accidents or injuries, like the 2014 terrorist strike, victims often receive limited compensation from contractors, and government support is lacking. The Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy reported a high unemployment rate of 14.40% in Bihar in March 2022. A 2020 study by the International Institute for Population Sciences revealed that half of Bihar’s population has a direct connection with migration. Despite government schemes providing compensation for accidents, lack of awareness and data gaps hinder effective implementation.
