The United Nations revealed that nearly eight million people have been displaced by the internal conflict between rival generals in Sudan. UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, who visited Ethiopia, called for urgent additional support to address the needs of those affected. The conflict between Sudan’s army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and his former deputy Mohamed Hamdan Daglo began in mid-April, with both sides accused of war crimes. Diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict have so far been unsuccessful, resulting in widespread displacement and humanitarian challenges.
