Maldives’ Defence Minister Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon highlights the significance of collaboration and interoperability among the coast guards of Maldives, India, and Sri Lanka during the 16th iteration of the biennial trilateral exercise ‘Dosti.’ The exercise aims to address shared maritime security concerns through cooperation and enhance operational capabilities. Indian Coast Guard ship Samarth and ICGS Abhinav, along with Sri Lanka Naval Ship Samudura, participate in activities like search and rescue missions, interdiction operations, and communication drills. ‘Dosti,’ initiated in 1992, has evolved to include Sri Lanka in 2012 and, in its 16th edition, has Bangladesh Coast Guard as an observer.
