The Karnataka government has extended the deadline for the installation of 60% Kannada signage in all commercial establishments by two weeks. Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar announced the extension, acknowledging the time required for establishments to make the signage changes. The government had mandated the use of 60% Kannada on signage boards through a gazette notification on February 26. Failure to comply could result in the suspension of business licenses and the sealing of commercial establishments, according to a Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) order issued on February 28. The extension provides relief to businesses to ensure compliance with the new rule.
