Engineering and construction conglomerate L&T has been awarded a substantial contract by Perdaman Chemicals & Fertilisers to construct a 2.3 million tonne urea plant in Australia. The facility, when completed, will become one of the largest urea plants globally. The contract value falls within the “significant order” range, typically between INR 1,000 crore and INR 2,500 crore ($135 million to $335 million). L&T’s involvement includes fabrication and supply of process and piperack modules for the plant, along with equipment packaging. The project adopts a modular approach, with parts being prefabricated in India before assembly in Australia.
