Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has successfully activated 3,500 4G base transceiver stations (BTS) across India, according to CMD P K Purwar. These stations offer 4G services on both commercial and trial bases as BSNL gears up for a full-fledged nationwide launch. The company aims to extend its 4G coverage to 100,000 BTS, with plans to deploy 5G by December 2024 using indigenous technology. Despite delays in 4G launches, BSNL seeks to catch up with competitors like Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio. The BSNL Employees Union has urged the government to utilize Vodafone Idea Limited’s network to expedite BSNL’s 4G rollout, leveraging the government’s stake in Vi.
